Resource Information
The Imani Center has been a product of The Bridge Inc., when it was the Irvington Youth Resource Center (IYRC). In its inception, The Imani Center has been a place of refuge for many adolescents. Starting in the basement of a local church to erecting a trailer on the grounds of the local high school to make ourselves more accessible, we have planted seeds in many youths to help them develop roots to enable them to grow grounded and strong. To many, we were their greatest supporters and supporters and advocates. To date, we have served over a thousand youth; instilling hope and faith by providing them with a safe haven that was more like a home away from home. To date, we have never turned a youth away. At times, they would come from near and far to land on the doorsteps of The Imani Center in search of help. Our staff was always willing to go above and beyond the call of duty to address a need. The many skills and talents of the staff never allowed delivery of “cookie-cutter” that show a blatant disregard for individuality. The services provided are solely based on the need of a child. There are no organizations in the community that offers free mental health, academic, community service opportunities, recreation, school support, court intervention, prevention, referral, and follow-up services. There are no barriers when it comes to collaboration.
